Consider the carrying handle and the weight of the wet unit. A cleaner that weighs fifteen pounds dry can weigh twenty-five pounds wet. If you cannot comfortably carry it to storage, you will be tempted to leave it poolside, where UV exposure degrades the housing and reduces the unit’s lifespan.

2. How Easy Is the Filter to Clean?

Every cleaning device has a filter that must be emptied and rinsed after each use. This is the single most frequent maintenance task, and the ease of this task has a disproportionate impact on whether you use the device regularly.
